Developments in car set-up knowledge and improvements in performance are just some of the advancements the Grove Racing team and driver Brenton Grove have made this weekend in the Dunlop Super2 Series at Symmons Plains Raceway.

Grove made just his second appearance in the series at Round 2, supporting the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint behind the wheel of his Grove Hire/Dynamic Steel Frame, Metroll, White Ribbon Australia and ABCON Concrete Constructions-backed Holden VF Commodore.

Recording a best result of 16th, the Melbourne-based driver believes the weekend showed good signs as he continues to learn the ropes of the Super2 car after graduating from Porsche racing in 2017.

His best finishing position came in the final race of the weekend, despite being turned around on the formation lap by another competitor.

“The learning curve for me has been massive,” Grove said.

“The competition in this field is something that I haven’t experienced before. It’s awesome to be a part of though, it forces you to learn and adapt at a rapid rate

“There were some positives from the weekend, definitely some improvements from Adelaide.

"However, in such a tight field it just takes time to work your way forward and be consistent.”

The 2.4km, 7 turn Symmons Plains circuit is one of the few on the Super2 calendar that Grove has had past experience at, when he won on debut in Formula 4 during 2016.

With that track knowledge already engraved into the back of his mind, the 21-year old says it helped him get up to speed quicker during the beginning stages of the weekend.

“It was beneficial to have been there before because I knew which way the track went," added Grove.

"However, being there in such a different car meant it didn’t really count for a whole lot.

“Perth will be exciting. It’s another new track I haven't been to before so it will be great to continue the learning process.”

The Dunlop Super2 Series now heads to Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway for Round 3 on May 4-6 2018.
