Stephen Grove will add more international mileage to his busy 2018 racing schedule, with a return to the famed Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup series.
It comes after Grove completed a thrilling weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix Supercup round in May in what was his maiden appearance in the one-make series on the challenging street circuit.
Rejoining the same team he contested Monaco with, French squad Pro GT by Alméras, the Melbourne-based driver will tackle back-to-back rounds at the Hockenheimring in Germany and the Hungaroring in Hungary, both in support of Formula 1.
The Hockenheim and Budapest [Hungary] events both take place during the month of July in what will be a busy period for Grove Racing, who will also compete in Round 4 of the Dunlop Super2 Series at Townsville from the 6-8 of July with Brenton Grove.
On top of the two Supercup events, Grove will return to Australia to continue his defence of the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia Pro-Am championship title.
The two-time champion will once again be behind the wheel of a Gen II Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car in the Supercup rounds, the same model he campaigns in Carrera Cup Australia.
Grove's extra-mileage aboard the car will prove critical as he continues his quest to master the Cup Car.
“I’m really excited to add all these overseas races to my calendar,” said Grove.
“They are quite unique experiences in that I’m adapting to new environments as such and new race tracks as well - it’s very different to racing back in Australia.
“Hockenheim and Budapest are two tracks I don’t know, but I will have the same engineer for those two rounds, whereas in Monaco I had someone different, so that will help the continuity.
“The risk versus reward is a lot different at those two circuits, they have a lot more run off because they are more traditional tracks so I’ll be able to push a little more.
“I’ve got to learn two different circuits that I haven’t been to in the next few weeks. It’s a good thing I’m doing it with the same team we did Monaco with, it’s in a Cup car, so it will be exciting."
Following the Supercup rounds, Grove will head back to Australia for Round 5 of Carrera Cup Australia at Sydney Motorsport Park (August 3-4) in what will make up three back-to-back race weekends for the Melburnian.
