Both Stephen and Brenton Grove will be in action this coming weekend (July 26-28) in different parts of the world as the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and Dunlop Super2 Series continue.
Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup heads to the Hockenheimring in Germany for Round 5, marking the halfway point of the series.
The classic, old school style circuit, located in the Rhine valley, is surrounded by dense forest, with Porsche Supercup supporting the German Grand Prix.
An excellent result of second in class last time out at Silverstone saw Stephen Grove climb to third in the Pro-Am standings after showing improved form at each round this season.
From the flat out bends of Silverstone comes the mixture of high-speed corners, a hairpin, and the big kerbs which make up the 4.574 km 17 turns that is the Hockenheimring.
Hockenheimring was one of Grove’s three round-only appearances in Porsche Supercup last year, so the Melburnian has prior experience at the track.
The customary Porsche Supercup round format will feature practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and a 16-lap race on Sunday.
Fox Sports Channel 506 will broadcast the latter two Live in Australia, with Saturday’s qualifying session on at 21:15 AEST and the race coverage kicking off on Sunday at 19:10 AEST.
“We head to Hockenheim with a fair bit of confidence after Silverstone,” said Stephen.
“We had a good qualifying and a really good race start and race in the last round, so there are plenty of positives to take in.
“Hockenheimring is a different track, though, and at this level, you’ve got to be perfect to do well.
“I don’t underestimate what’s ahead of me; the field is very competitive, the circuits are tough and you’ve got limited track time before the race.
“We’ve just got to keep pushing keep getting podiums.”
In Australia, Brenton Grove joins Triple Eight Race Engineering for Round 4 of the Dunlop Super2 Series at Queensland Raceway in support of the Ipswich SuperSprint.
The 22-year old is also fresh off the back of his best-ever result in Super2, taking home fifth and second-place finishes in the Townsville races respectively.
Having completed a test day with Triple Eight at the ‘paperclip’ last week, the younger Grove is feeling optimistic ahead of the QR weekend.
The Super2 Series’ round format features a pair of 40-minute practice sessions on Friday, followed by a qualifying and a 20-lap race on both Saturday and Sunday.
Fox Sports Channel 506 will also broadcast the action Live.
“Heading back to our test track will be quite exciting this weekend, I think it’s one of the only tracks we go to this year that I’ve been to more than once,” said Brenton.
“We have found quite a nice balance within the car, but also within the team.
“I think we can have quite a strong result and hopefully carry forward our momentum from Townsville.”
