SEBASTIAN TANDER

Leading the Grove Junior Team is New Zealand young gun, Matthew Payne. The talented junior made his Super2 debut at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2021.

In his rise to fame the gifted New Zealander has had unprecedented success in karting, winning the Kartsport NZ National Sprint Championship in the KZ2 class as well as competing in the European FIA Karting Championship.

In 2021, he competed in the open-wheel Toyota Series, taking a podium in all nine races, achieving five race wins and becoming series champion placing him alongside other past winners including Lando Norris, Lance Stroll, Liam Lawson and Mitch Evans.

Fresh off his maiden title in cars, Matthew made the transition to tin-tops, racing in this year’s Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australian championship and competed in the final two rounds of the 2021 Super 2 championship.

In October 2022, Payne made his main game debut alongside Lee Holdsworth in the Repco Bathurst 1000 as co-driver.

He has since been confirmed to race full time with Penrite Racing alongside David Reynolds as of 2023.
