Oscar Targett looking to continue strong form in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge

Grove Racing junior driver Oscar Targett is hoping to continue his strong form, as the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge rolls into Townsville, in support of the Repco Supercars Championship.

The 18-year old Queenslander arrives in Townsville, following an important race victory at The Bend, which helped him to the overall round win, and propelled him into the lead of the Championship. Across the six races so far, Oscar is the only multi-winner in the category, after saluting in the opening race of the season at Phillip Island.

This weekend marks the first time in the series’ history that a round will be contested at a street circuit, with the Reid Park facility providing the perfect battleground for these talented young stars.

The weekend comprises of three races, two of which are sprints. The Sunday morning race is run over a longer distance, contributing to the coveted Jim Richards Endurance Trophy.

Grove Racing Junior Driver Oscar Targett is eager for the weekend ahead. “I'm super excited to head up to Townsville. The atmosphere is always amazing up there and the weather is a big drawcard. Being able to showcase my skills in front of the entire team at Grove Racing, as well as their partners, only adds to the importance and energy of the race weekend.

Together with the team at Grove Racing and Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM), a lot of preparation was put into this event to ensure success. I'm coming to Townsville to cement myself at the top of the standings!”

Oscar will take to the Townsville Street Circuit for the first time on Friday morning (8:55AM AEST) for Practice One. Practice Two will take place at 11:35AM on Friday. Qualifying and a 30-minute Race 1 will make up the action on Saturday.

Sunday sees two races, with Race 2 scheduled for 45-minutes in length. This will be the race that contributes to the Jim Richards Endurance Trophy. A 20-minute Race 3 will round out the weekend for the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at 12:45PM on Sunday.

Fans can tune in to all the action on Foxtel, Kayo, and the Seven Network.
